The flu season has been brutal this year and chances are pretty high that you’ll get sick because it’s been so widespread. But there are a few things you can do to clean your home during the cold and flu season to minimize your risk of exposure.
- Don’t forget to use hot water and bleach to wash your clothes. Did you know that germs can stay on clothes through the washing machine cycle? It’s true! So kill them with hot water or bleach.
- Be aware of where your bag or purse has been before you plop it on the countertop in your kitchen. The bottom of purses are covered in germs, and there can be more germs there than in a toilet! So put your bags and purses elsewhere.
- Door knobs and light switches are things that people touch all the time without thinking. Be sure to wipe these down in your weekly cleaning using a disinfectant. Does your home have a keypad to disarm your burglar alarm? Give that a wipedown as well.
